FC Nantes, led by coach Jean Vincent, was at the height of its glory in the 1970s. During the 1977–78 season, the club enjoyed notable success winning the French championship, marking the start of their national domination. Iconic players such as Henri Michel, Maxime Bossis and Vahid Halilhodžić contributed to this chapter. FC Nantes demonstrated a distinctive style of play, based on technique, ball possession and offensive efficiency. This period was marked by the club's development at national level, but also by notable participation in the European Cup, reaching the semi-finals of the European Champion Clubs' Cup in 1980.
