The So Foot Newsletter for February 2024

FEBRUARY !? Let's celebrate Valentine's Day together

It's February, the month of love. So for the occasion, we have chosen photographs that will remind you why you are in love with this sport and the emotions it gives you. We hope it will be love at first sight!

With our first photo already, it's still you who choose it, by voting in story on our Instagram @sofoot . Yes, the store's account has been switched to that of So Foot so that you can better follow the football news at the same time as that of our magnificent store ! We're off to a strong start with these two photos from the French victory at the 2018 World Cup.

For the rest, the editorial journalists agreed on Lionel Messi brandishing his World Cup in 2022 (🥹), from Trezeguet and Vieira celebrating together with scorer Youri Djorkaëff the second French achievement against Spain at Euro 2000 And Marseille fervor at the Stade Vélodrome.

We don't change anything about good habits, all these beautiful photos are available in very limited edition since January 1st at midnight .

That's it ! We can now say it without blinking, “la Pulga” finished the game . It's been a year now since we were all able to recover from the defeat of France in the final of the Qatari World Cup , it is time to be objective and recognize that This man reigns supreme over this sport . However, it didn't go so well with a defeat against Saudi Arabia at the start of the tournament but the Argentinian knew how to raise his head and guide an entire country towards the ultimate grail, the only trophy that was missing within his stratospheric track record. And with an XXL performance in the final , signing a double in passing , he allowed an entire people to experience the taste of victory again, 36 years after his last coronation.

Euro 2000, memorable memory... France, just world champions, arrives as the ultra favorite in the competition, sporting a complete squad, from Barthez to Trezeguet via Zidane and Henry . France advances to this meeting against Spain in the quarter-finals . And what a match! After a sumptuous free kick from Zidane to open the scoring, the Spaniards equalized on a penalty following a foul by Thuram on "that devil" by Munitis. But the Blues re-mobilize and in the wake of the penalty, a strangely lonely Patrick Vieira throws Youri Djorkaeff perfectly which crucifies the hopes of the Iberians (2-1). And goes off to celebrate his goal like a bullfighter at the corner post. At the very end of the match, the Spaniards again obtain a penalty and are able to get back into the race but Raúl misses it . Everyone knows what happens next: an epic final against the Italians and a historic double on the line!

The Marseille fervor is an example to show in all schools of supporters... We all remember the atmosphere at the Vélodrome stadium during the semi-final return of the Europa League against RB Leipzig and the faces players when they entered an already full enclosure 2 hours before kick-off . So of course, even in a Ligue 1 championship match against Troyes like here on the 31st day of the 2022/23 season , the Marseille ultras know how to ignite a stadium, smoke bombs and megaphones in hand.

Each of you necessarily remembers where and with whom he was during the second world title of the French team in 2018 . Not necessarily favorite at the start of the tournament, France was able to reach the final thanks in particular to to a young Kylian Mbappé , full of carefree, who had terrorized the Argentine defense in the 8th final, thanks to a Griezmann passer and scorer against Uruguay , thanks to Umtiti dancer in the half against Belgium and almost the whole team in the final against Croatia . The French team therefore finds itself on the roof of the world and can once again , 20 years later, lift this magnificent, coveted cup, in the Moscow rain. Here, Corentin Tolisso.

The T-shirt :

Franz Beckenbauer was an iconic figure in German and world football, illustrious defender of the Mannschaft. “Der Kaiser” won a World Cup and a Euro. Added to this is a hat-trick in the Champions Clubs' Cup , the ancestor of the Champions League. Having left at the start of the year, it was obligatory for the So Foot store to pay tribute to this wonderful footballer (in our own way, always!)
