Puzzle "World Cup Stand, 1974"
June 23, 1974, Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, Germany, World Cup. Johan Cruyff's Netherlands face Bulgaria. It's not a particularly enjoyable match for the Bulgarians, who are thrashed 4-1. But the crowd is happy; they got their money's worth with all those goals. This photo shows them, all those fans sporting clothes of every color and fabric under the bright sun. It makes for a fantastic puzzle with lots of little details to piece together, from the shirtless man to the woman in the white bucket hat, not forgetting the Dutch fans with their mini flags. And this snapshot is a photograph of a generation, a style, an era, a story. A puzzle is a bit like the World Cup, really: long to complete, and therefore all the more rewarding when you finish it.

Puzzle “Thibaut Pinot in his Curva, Lombardy 2023”

Last pedal stroke, last race, (almost) last turn. Thibaut Pinot captivated France for 12 years. Like almost no other rider, he swept the crowds along with him, simply with his unique style and reserved personality. With no Grand Tour victories to his name, he has a Tour of Lombardy, one of his favorite races, which he won in 2018. That's why he chose this classic for his retirement. That's why his fans, led by the Collectif Ultra Pinot and the French Federation of Losers, prepared a Curva (end section) in his name, just like a few months earlier at the Tour de France. That's why Renaud Bouchez, a photographer with So Press, positioned himself on this turn to capture his passing and the expressions of all the spectators. Beyond the feeling of enclosure created by the buildings, the lighting makes every detail visible. You can even feel the movement of the crowd and the energy emanating from the mass of supporters. Now it's up to you to take his place and win this endurance game that is this puzzle tribute to the last race of our national Thibaut Pinot.
